The Plisse collection explores permanent pleating and folded geometry in woven form. Twelve rugs follow the logic of a single continuous piece of cloth mapping a field. Triangulated tessellations and accordion ridge fields set up a rhythm of alternating light and shadow, the ghost geometry of a flat sheet pressed and carefully pulled open.

The aesthetic is spare and modern. Monochrome grounds in sumi black, poplin white, ash and pewter are punctuated by a single saturated event, a sharp vermilion stripe or a block of ultramarine. That tension between calm discipline and bold disruption defines the collection.

Each rug is hand-knotted in Kathmandu from dense matte New Zealand wool, with a fine micro-variation in pile height so the ridge-and-valley rhythm can be felt under the hand. A restrained thread of pure silk marks the crests of the ridges like crisp pressed fabric. Knot densities range from 100 to 150 knots per square inch.

The Collection

Accordion from the Plisse Collection

Accordion

A single continuous ridge defines the central field, capturing and breaking light as it marches across the wool surface. This handwoven plane functions as an exploration of permanent pleating, where the logic of accordion folds creates a dynamic geometry of light and shadow, much like folded technical fabric.

Crease Field from the Plisse Collection

Crease Field

The logic of a single continuous crease governs the field, moving across a ground that waits for its one dynamic moment. It is a surface defined by structural restraint and the subtle play of light that results, reminiscent of permanent accordion ridges.

Vermilion Fold from the Plisse Collection

Vermilion Fold

Faceted planes of charcoal grey are defined by precise, light-catching ridges, creating an architectural surface that mimics the geometry of permanently pleated cloth. Within this textured field, a single, deliberate crease reopens to reveal a narrow, searing line of vermilion, a quiet monochrome calm punctuated by one sharp color event.

Quiet Tessella from the Plisse Collection

Quiet Tessella

A single continuous plane is defined by precise, repeating folds. The surface rises and falls in sharp, micro-pleats that alternate across the field, catching the light in predictable intervals.

Bismuth Grey from the Plisse Collection

Bismuth Grey

Bismuth Grey opens across the floor as a single, expansive grey field, its surface deeply delineated by narrow, precisely aligned ridges that rise and recede like the facets of a complex mineral structure. Each raised line catches the ambient light differently, creating an internal geometry of shadow and highlight across the dense pile that shifts as one moves.

Single Stripe from the Plisse Collection

Single Stripe

Imagine a perfect charcoal plane, precisely folded as a continuous form, where each ridge waits for the light. This hand-knotted composition holds its permanent pleat, a field of quiet geometry defined by deep graphite wool and a subtle, technical sheen.

Cobalt Pleat from the Plisse Collection

Cobalt Pleat

A deep pleat cuts the grey field, revealing a saturated line of cobalt blue. The ridge itself forms a shadow-play of logic, where the permanent press has caught the light at a different angle from the rest of the flat-weave expanse.

Faceted Planes from the Plisse Collection

Faceted Planes

Faceted planes create a quiet landscape of interlocking geometric forms across this hand-knotted field. Inspired by the precise folds of a single continuous piece of cloth, the design uses contrasting pile heights to define its geometry.

Linear Ridge from the Plisse Collection

Linear Ridge

A single continuous raised line defines this handwoven composition, creating a physical and visual spine across the field. This ridge of wool, built in high contrast to the low flatweave, mimics the definitive crease of a single fold, catching the low angle light.

Knot Plane from the Plisse Collection

Knot Plane

Imagine a single, large piece of felt that has been meticulously folded across its field, creating a tessellated surface where raised ridges alternate with flat planes. The light catches the texture differently on each angled facet, emphasizing the geometric structure.

Onyx Fold from the Plisse Collection

Onyx Fold

A field of precise, alternating textures creates the effect of continuous pleats, catching shadow and light like a piece of finely folded fabric. Fine raised lines of wool run parallel across the dark grey surface, separated by slightly recessed channels where the silk yarn catches the light, mimicking the accordion structure of the Plisse collection.

Tessellated Plane from the Plisse Collection

Tessellated Plane

Tessellated facets define this composition, a series of precise folds converging on a single, unwavering vertex. The monochrome field of cool grey unfolds like a carefully creased map or a complex paper form, with each angular panel differentiated only by subtle shifts in tone and the angle of the hand-spun yarn as it catches ambient light.
