Like the residue found in an aged brass mortar, this composition is a study in texture and mineral tone. It starts as a finely spun field of dried clay wool, a matte expanse that anchors the floor. Through a gradual shift in weft density, the weave tightens, compacting into a dense central block of deep, burnt sienna silk.
Within this concentrated mass, irregular bands of natural, un-dyed wool in slate grey and oxidized green create a horizontal rhythm. The edges are raw and precise, with no explicit border, letting the material contrast define the shape. The final texture feels compressed, worn smooth over years, holding the heat like stone. It is a quiet, geological landscape underfoot.
Craftsmanship
Each piece in the Tincture collection is hand-knotted in Kathmandu, Nepal by master artisans using time-honored Tibetan weaving techniques. Ochre Sedent is constructed with 60% raw wool, 40% mulberry silk, achieving a surface that rewards both the eye and the hand.
