The composition of Diamond Step is defined by a deep perimeter of charcoal, framing a field of cool, pale grey, like the contrast of a dark obsidian edge against a platinum block. The transition between the two tones is a stepped rectilinear border, a geometric pattern that gives the illusion of structure and recession, like the cut facets of a gem.
The deep, uniform color of the border provides a strong architectural anchor, allowing the central field to recede, emphasizing the precise geometry. A few inset blocks of contrasting tone, no larger than a single cut stone, break the rhythm on the outer perimeter, adding points of interest and scale. The low, dense pile is defined by the tight knotting, giving the surface a cool, almost mineral-like feel underfoot, devoid of ornament and focused entirely on the clarity of form.
