Like the raw grip of a hand-troweled mortar wall, this floor covering holds texture close to the surface. It is a slow study in grey, grounding a room without demand. Woven by hand using a thick yarn from high-altitude wool, it rejects fine detail for raw material mass. Subtle color bands shift horizontally, a quiet gradient that moves from the pale grit of wet cement to the deep char of cold ash. The geometric blocks are large, almost tectonic, layered softly upon one another and defined not by sharp edges, but by the gradual fading of one grey tone into the next. Small flecks of un-dyed white wool are scattered throughout, catching the light like exposed plaster aggregate. This composition offers a stable, muted base for objects of wood or polished metal, reflecting a process of deliberate construction.
